Sustainable Consumption and Production
Part 1: Sustainable Production
Moderator: T. Vanderhoeven, Prospex
Objectives of the session
The session will explore some of the current issues of sustainable production by looking at the role of eco-innovation and its potential in the context of sustainable production patterns; the relations between technology development, policy making and innovation diffusion; as well as potential rebound effects and the links between sustainable production and consumption.

Part 2: Environment and consumption
Moderator: T. Vanderhoeven, Prospex
Rapporteur: M. Bonazountas, Department of Water Resources & Environment, National Technical University of Athens
Objectives of the session
This session aims to inform public and policy debate by providing a review of (selected) consumption issues and by trying to identify key insights as they relate to sustainability. As research provides us with some answers how to address unsustainable trends and to change behaviours, the session aims to present some recent scientific works on consumption patterns and policy instruments. Additionally, the session will investigate how research could help policy-making, business and civil society in providing answers on how to bridge the gap between environment and consumer and how to support the development of policies which would encourage and promote pro-environmental consumer behaviour.

Part 3: From Words to Deeds: problem solving
Moderator: T. Vanderhoeven, Prospex
The session will involve all participants in finding ways of going from words to deeds in Sustainable Production and Consumption and solving problems identified in the first two discussions. Questions to be answered: what sort of actions are envisaged at various levels to have a step change? How can we better use economic and communication based tools for tackling the issues?
T. Vanderhoeven, Prospex
Presentation of results of participants' reflections
Presentation and discussion of the break-out session results? Conclusions and proposal from the session
