Information gathering and sharing
Responding to the changing environment requires adequate information and the interpretation of climate projections, understanding the role of the climate in various human activities and an effective partnership between the providers and users of environmental information, in particular climate services. Even when the information required is accessible, there is a risk of misinterpretation or overburdening because an appropriate synthesis is lacking. Finally, the question of how to deal with uncertainty remains unresolved.
The objective of this session was to bring together actors from the various processes mentioned above and consider how the SEIS could be used as a mechanism to harness existing initiatives in a coherent way for both delivering the needed analysis where information already exists and to fill gaps where data and information are the most needed.
